If it has been deemed by the organization that these 2 are not part of our long term plans, why not look at other players that we could possibly acquire for a package of these 2 young NHLers. These are the type of trades that I'd be targeting.....
Nathan Horton and Anthony Stewart
Horton is the key to the trade and Stewart gets a fresh start with a new organization. We add some salary but get a big player that can put the puck in the net that would still fit into the age of the teams core.
Jason Pominville
Buffalo sheds salary and adds a young defenseman on a team desperately in need of quality blue line help. The Oilers acquire a legit 1st line talent that could be our offensive anchor on the 2nd line.
Jordan Staal
It would give Pittsburgh 2 solid young players that would also improve their team depth, something that will be a major key to the defending champs going forward.
Simon Gagne
Trims salary for the Flyers and also adds 2 young players that would fit in with the core of Richards and Carter.
Phil Kessel
Boston downgrades at forward but gains cap flexibility and a young defenseman in the process.
