BBO's Top 20 Oilers Prospects, #4 Jordan Eberle

Just one look at this kid and the skill is evident. At the same age, he would skate circles around Rob Schremp. Eberle looks like the Oilers truest form of a sniper. Unlike Schremp, he doesn't look to distribute the puck, he looks primarily to put the puck in the net. That should make some of the Oilers young playmaking forwards very happy when he makes the big club.

Eberle will however have to broaden his game a bit so that he can beat a team with his passing ability as well as his scoring ability. The last thing that the Oilers need is for Eberle to become a Joffrey Lupul clone that can't do anything without a set up man.

The reasons that I ranked Eberle behind Riley Nash are...
1) Nash is a more well rounded player and he can be the goalscorer when need be, and he can also make a superb pass when need be.
2) Nash has a larger frame, and at the same age was already stronger despite resembling a flag pole.

Eberle has to get stronger and round out his game, however the skill is there and the fact that he grew up an Oilers fan can only help his desire to make it big with his hometown team.
