Reddox Looking To Fly The Coop?

Liam Reddox threatening to leave the Oilers after refusing the teams qualifying offer is like losing the "admiration" of former In Living Color character Wanda. Quite frankly it's a relief, it shows that the Oilers aren't willing to give this guy a roster spot because they want to see what bigger (Jacques, Stone) and more skilled (Brule, Schremp, Pouliot) options can do. The bottom line like I've been saying was that Reddox was our 4th best forward in Springfield before MacT made him his honorary Toby.

Later on in the year he would've been even further behind the 8 ball with the arrival of Stone and Linglet. Fact of the matter is that I'm glad that Tambo sees this player for the player not what MacT was pimping him to be. One less potentially overpaid player because he was given the push of a lifetime by the now former Oilers coach.

Reddox Gets The Nod, AGAIN!

If you are a smallish grinder looking for an NHL opportunity you might want to actively seek out employment from the Edmonton Oilers. It's like affirmative action for smurf grinders. Craig MacTavish should have a place in the little grinder that can't Hall of Fame under the builders category.

Every single season curly-q has a fascination with these players. No offense to Liam Reddox the person, as he seems like a nice, honest, and hardworking kid, but what the hell has he done to deserve the opportunity to be an NHL regular this season? Fact of the matter is that he is at best the 4th best Falcons forward and at worst about the 7th best.

If we're hell bent on leaving Schremp, Potulny, and Brule in the AHL for various reasons, then why not give Tyler Spurgeon his first taste of NHL action? Why do we have to keep investing in a guy that isn't skilled enough to be a top 6 NHL forward, nor strong enough to be a dominant bottom 6 player.

Oh well, at least he showed how he is head and shoulders over his competition this past weekend, cha you know what? Nnnnnn Nnnnn.

BBO's Top 20 Oilers Prospects, #19 Lw Liam Reddox

Liam Reddox is a guy that could make a serviceable NHL player. However to do so, he will need to get stronger. He has decent hands for a bottom 6 player, and he has good hands around the net. Reddox's biggest hurdle with the Oilers is that since their top 6 is so small, they need more beef in their bottom six.

When Fernando Pisani and Steve MacIntyre return from injury, Reddox will likely be the odd man out. Reddox will have to get stronger or he will be seen as another Patrick Thoresen, a somewhat skilled player with grit, a good skater, not skilled enough to be in the top 6, but not strong enough to be in the bottom 6.

Reddox will receive an NHL contract next season, but I don't expect him to win a spot out of camp next year when the team is healthier and beefier options are available.
