BBO's Top 20 Oilers Prospects, #9 G Devan Dubnyk

With Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers graduating onto bigger and better things, Devan Dubnyk is now the teams undisputed top goaltending prospect outside of the NHL. The Oilers first of two 1st round picks in 2004, Dubnyk is looking to come into his own in his third professional season.

Dubnyk is a BIG goalie at 6'5" tall. Unlike many goalies that rely on lightning fast lateral movement, Dubnyk is in the Dwayne Roloson mold of goaltenders. A positionally sound goaltender with limited lateral movement, Dubnyk often times makes over 30 saves in a game without really making any hilite reel saves. Because of this he may not get his just due as a player.

Dubnyk is Springfield's #1 goaltender, and the team will go as far as he can lead them in net. If he can provide similar goaltending to what Deslauriers provided last season combined with a much better team, the Falcons could have a Calder Cup worthy team.
