Falcons Weekend Preview, Week 4

The Falcons will face a familiar foe twice this weekend, the same team that they lost to 4-2 last Saturday, the Lowell Devils. This weekend the Falcons team will have Gilbert Brule and Rob Schremp in the lineup together for only the 2nd time this season. Expect each player to carry their line and be among the best players on the ice for either team.

The Falcons have gotten a bit of a break with Lowell's top 2 scorers currently called up to their parent club the New Jersey Devils. Matt Halischuk had 8 points (5-3-8) in 6 games, and Nicklas Bergfors also had 8 points (2-6-8) in 6 games. Bergfors went for 1-1-2 and a +2 against Springfield last Saturday and Halischuk went for 1-1-2 and a +1 against the Falcons in the same game. Needless to say, Springfield won't shed any tears over their promotion to the NJ Devils.

The Falcons currently trail Lowell in the Atlantic Division by 2 points with the same ammount of games played (7). The Devils are in the 3rd spot, with the Falcons sitting in the 5th spot 2 points out of the top 4 spots in the Atlantic Division. The Falcons could overtake the Devils for the 3rd spot or at least get back into the very early season playoff hunt by beating a weakened Devils team twice this weekend.

According to head coach Jeff Truitt (as heard on Jason Gregor's Just a Game radio show on the TEAM 1260), the top 2 lines for the Falcons will look like this...

Schremp-Potulny-Corazzini
Lerg-Brule-Trukhno

Those top 2 lines should do some serious offensive damage.

This weekend's schedule:

Friday Lowell @ Springfield 7:30PM EST

Saturday Springfield @ Lowell 7:00PM EST

Nothing less than 4 points this weekend is acceptable in my opinion.

LATE EDIT-According to the Falcons official website, Nicklas Bergfors will play for Lowell. However with Lowell still missing their leading goalscorer and the Falcons getting Gilbert Brule back, the Falcons are still in a very good position against Lowell this weekend.
