Falcons Weekly Review, Week 3

On the first game of the weekend against the Albany River Rats, Rob Schremp took control of the game early. Finishing the night with 2 assists, including a beauty of a backhanded pass from up high on the right side down to the left side at the goal mouth. Ryan Potulny made no mistake on Schremp's passes and had his 2nd 2 goal game of the young season. At the end of the night Potulny was in the top 10 in AHL goalscoring, and Schremp was top 10 in assists. Expect that to continue if they are kept on the same line.

Josef Hrabal also made his much anticipated North American pro debut and assisted on the game winning goal by Liam Reddox. The Falcons ended up winning the contest 3-2.

The second game saw the Falcons drop a 4-2 decision to the Lowell Devils. Geoff Paukovich scored his first career AHL goal to open up a 1-0 lead for the Falcons. Unfortunately for the Falcons, it all went downhill from there. The Devils scored 4 unanswered goals before Liam Reddox finished the games scoring with a PP goal. The goal was Reddox's 2nd PP goal in as many nights. Stephane Goulet also added 2 assists and Ryan O'Marra recorded his first point of the year with a secondary assist on Paukovich's goal.

Falcons Offensive Standouts:
Ryan Potulny 2gp. 2-0-2
Liam Reddox 2gp. 2-0-2
Rob Schremp 2gp. 0-2-2
Stephane Goulet 2gp. 0-2-2
Geoff Paukovich 1gp. 1-0-1
Josef Hrabal 1gp. 0-1-1
Cody Wild 1gp. 0-1-1

Falcons MIA:
Slava Trukhno 2gp. 0-0-0
Tyler Spurgeon 2gp. 0-0-0
Devan Dubnyk Allowed 4 goals on 20 shots in Sunday's 4-2 loss

Falcons Observations:
Trukhno is playing on the right side on the Reddox-Spurgeon-Trukhno line. It could be interesting to see if this is due to line juggling, or if this will be a permanent change.

Taylor Chorney has to improve on not allowing himself to get beat wide by opposing forwards.

Theo Peckham returned to form in terms of his physical play.

Geoff Paukovich may have had the best game that I've ever seen him play including with Denver, the WJC, and the Oilers rookie camp.

Rob Schremp and Ryan Potulny provide the Falcons with a dynamic passer/sniper combo.

nice to see Paukovich get on the board, I actually liked his play at training camp this year, thought his skating was a lot better than the year before.

Anyone that hs ever heard me talk about Paukovich knows that I am FAR from a fan of his play.

However he had a very solid game and really showed me what I've been dying to see from the kid.

A checking line of Jacques-Paukovich-? the way that Pauko was playing would be a line that people would not look forward to playing against.

Perhaps O'Marra could round out that line if he picks up his physical play, or maybe McDonald?

Nice to FINALY have a reason to be excited about the kid!
