It's time for us to stop hanging on every moment of the Dany Heatley douche baggery... I mean sweepstakes. Whatever will happen, it is firmly out of our control. HOWEVER there is a ton to be positive about even if this deal isn't completed.
New coaching staff-This usually kick starts certain players and could change the dynamics of this team.
Solid draft-MPS, Lander, and a number of other solid potential prospects.
A Stanley Cup winning goaltender signed for 4 seasons. Khabibulin is a definite upgrade on Roli and will be 40 at the end of this deal, not the start of it like Roli would've been.
There's lots to be positive about. Not to mention that we could still deal one of our offensive defensemen for forward help, and we have a bunch of borderline NHLers that could cheaply fill into supporting roles. Enough of this doom and gloom crap, we should still have a solid team no matter what does/doesn't happen, and above all else we are already rid of MacT and Lowe isn't signing the contracts anymore.
It may take some time for us to get back on the right track, but we are well on our way to doing so, now we need what all organizations need to get to an elite level, a little bit of luck. We are owed some crazy luck for the crap that we've endured as a team for the last 17 or so years. Perhaps it's Paajarvi-Svensson, maybe Rajala, maybe it's someone already in the organization that busts out this season (in a good way!)?
Other than trying to tank and rebuild and have consensus #1 picks telling us they will not come to Edmonton, we're at rock bottom, only one way to go and that's up, right up Dany Heatley's skirt! Sorry I couldn't resist and since MacT's gone and ole' gap tooth is out of the West I have to find someone to trash!
