Hall Vs. Seguin Round 2 Playoff Matchup, It's Official!

The two top rated prospects in the draft are about to go head to head in the battle for OHL bragging rights and more importantly to try to get some separation from the other in terms of the NHL draft. Taylor Hall's top seeded Windsor Spitfires will host Tyler Seguin's fourth ranked Plymouth Whaler's starting Thursday at 7:05 PM EST. Windsor won the season series 4-3 with 4-0, 2-1, 6-3, and 6-4 wins, while Plymouth had 6-5(SO), 4-3, and 7-4 wins.

Seguin and Plymouth are definitely the underdogs here, Hall has the better supporting cast with Memorial Cup experience no less, and home ice advantage. As far as I'm concerned Hall has to significantly outplay Seguin in this series to swing the pendulum in his favor once and for all. Seguin just has to have a close showing to Hall for it to be seen as a win for him. After all he'll be facing the #3 ranked player in the draft that did a pretty damn good against Hall in the WJC's. Here's how they stacked up against each other's teams this season.

BBO, this is totally off topic, but I wanted to get your thoughts on Vande Velde. I know that you watched him play at UND, and he was a teammate of T.J. Oshie.

Oshie is simply outstanding. Does Vande Velde play a similar game, minus some of the offensive skill?

Also, do you think Vande Velde will be in Springfield soon?

I'm thinking Vande Velde could be our Horcoff replacement within the next 2 years.

He isn't as flashy or as skilled as Oshie. I'm hoping that he'll be in Springfield soon as he has nothing stopping him from signing as long as he gets the $ that he wants and he wants to play for the Oil and/or their farm team.

He could end up being a really solid 3rd line guy with size, strength, and grit as well as good speed, and a solid bag of skills. Not as skilled as Riley Nash, but Lander and Vande Velde would compliment each other and become 2/3's of a very solid 2 way checking line.
