I have really been enjoying your Falcon season preview entries. Thanks for this Bryan.

I am really stoked about the Springfield team. I hope they can take a good run at their division.

Thanks for the compliment ODH. I must say that after penciling in the depth chart, I have to wonder what fate awaits O'Marra. Unless they plan on playing Sestito on the wing, he may see more time in the ECHL this year. Not exactly what I'd call proper development. You know that Sestito will be playing because he wears the C, and Spurgeon will also be playing because he had a solid camp. There will be some solid players sitting in the PB. That's usually a sure sign that you have a very deep team.

IMO that is the case with Springfield this season.

BBO,
Thanks for the invite to your blog. As a Stockton Thunder fan I look forward to getting different perspectives on how former Thunder players are doing, at the AHL level or above. As I read your posts and others, that it seems that the Falcons may have a move or two left before the season gets on. Is this true? Or do you see them keeping 28 players on the roster and not dressing six or eight of them a night depending on injury or whatever? The players that have come to Stockton from Springfield/ Edmonton show a lot of promise. I was able to see one preseason game and was very impressed with Urquhart, LaFrance, Perugini, Bendfeld and Chwedoruk. Of course I saw a couple of these players last year, and liked them even then. I would like to see O'Marra and McMurchy back in the Gold and Black. But I realize that may not be the best for their development. I look forward to the start of our season on Saturday night! And wish the Oilers and Falcons the best! dropthatpuck

Thanks dropthatpuck. It seems that the Falcons want to keep the numbers up a bit, however with Schremp and Roy returning, there will likely be a few demotions. That is just my opinion.

Players like O'Marra, Lerg, Wild, and Bisaillon need to get significant minutes in this season. This is a crucial time in their development, so if they won't get it in Springfield, they should get it in Stockton.

Other possibilities for demoption would be Bekkar, Paukovich, Gabinet, and Bina.

I expect the Falcons to keep more than a full lineup, but at some point that becomes a distraction to the players and the team. I would expect something to come after this weekend as the Falcons will be playing 3 games in 3 nights, so they can use the extra bodies at least for the time being.
