What Do You Mean Preseason is Over?

In a game that was eerily similar to the way that the Oilers played this preseason, the Oilers eeked out a win against divisional rivals the Colorado Avalanche 3-2.

Ironically enough the best players on the ice tonight were also the best players in the preseason. Mathieu Garon continued to play extraordinarily well, Dustin Penner kept up his solid play and contributed with 2 goals, the kid line was the best on the ice for the Oilers, Marc Pouliot and Kyle Brodziak also played fine games in limited even strength minutes.

Preseason no shows and even goats wore the horns tonight. Ethan Moreau and Steve Staios had poor games, and while I'll give a pass to Ales Hemsky, Shawn Horcoff, Erik Cole, and Fernado Pisani (with the last 2 playing out of position) they all need to have better outings.

The team cannot continue giving up so many shots and creating so few of their own if they expect to be contenders. If this kind of play continues, there should be some shakeups.

My shakeups...

Penner-Horcoff-Hemsky
Nilsson-Cogliano-Gagner
Pisani-Brodziak-Cole
Moreau-Pouliot-Stortini/MacIntyre
