At Least They Went Down Fighting this Time

At least this time they didn't roll over and die (minus the opening 10 minutes that is!). The Oilers still haven't gotten much offensive execution from their forwards, however Sheldon Souray and Lubomir Visnovsky once again provided the offensive punch in this game.

There was a Mathieu Garon sighting, and he played pretty well in my eyes. It makes you wonder what could've been if they matched the Wings intensity to start the game. For whatever reason this team likes to sleep walk out of the gates. Ultimately that's what cost us the game.

Maybe in the grand scheme of things it was better that they didn't win tonight, afterall spotting the defending cup champions 3 goals and then beating them when you finaly decide to play could've given this team a false sense of confidence that isn't needed with this young group.

Mactavish made the right decision in pulling Roli when he did, the team needed a kick in the junk, and that seemed to work. It maybe time to reunite the kid line and bump Penner and Horcoff to play with Hemsky. Moreau and Gagner have not been getting the job done lately in their respective roles.

This could be the turning point of the season if they realize that with hard work and playing 60 minutes they can compete with anybody. We can only hope that will be the case.
