How About Trying to Trade For the 1st And 2nd Overall Picks?

I've seen numerous proposals looking to acquire the rights to the 1st or 2nd overall pick, how about trying to land both? Here's what I propose.....

To NYI: Hemsky, Gilbert, 2nd rounder or Taylor Chorney, or any forward prospect not named Nash
To Edmonton: 1st overall pick

To TB: Cogliano and Visnovsky
To Edmonton: 2nd overall pick

This would do 2 things, it would allow us to go into a rebuild without having to completely suck like a lottery team and it would shed some massive salary. Then I would actively look to sign Bouwmeester and Gaborik, Havlat, or Hossa.

We would have 3 top 10 picks to build our future around.

Penner/Havlat-Horcoff-Gaborik/Hossa/Penner
O'Sullivan-Gagner-Tavares
Schremp/Nilsson-Brule/Pouliot-Pisani
Jacques-Brodziak-Stortini
MacIntyre, ?

Bouwmeester-Grebeshkov
Souray-Hedman
Smid-Peckham/cheap bottom pairing vet
Peckham/cheap bottom pairing vet

Deslauriers/?

We probably wouldn't be a playoff team but the tools would be in place to be a very solid team within 2-3 seasons time when we'd be led by Tavares, Hedman, Bouwmeester, and Gagner. Our youth would be among the best in the NHL and by that time we could also integrate other young players as well as look to fill holes in our lineup.

We would be setting ourselves up from a number of years from this one draft. It would also give the two teams that we trade with players that can help them now and in the next 2-3 seasons likely more than the players that we'd be getting. Both teams could use winning more so than a high profile prospect at this point in time as both are ailing franchises.
