Euro-Can Cup, Showcases Three Oilers and A Highly Touted Leafs Prospect

The second annual Euro-Can Cup will be played on Canadian soil this year. A much better lineup than last season, this London Knights alumni laden team will once again have three Edmonton Oilers on it. Sam Gagner, Rob Schremp, and former Rimouski Oceanic player Marc Pouliot. However they are also joined this season by Toronto Maple Leafs first round pick Nazim Kadri, high scoring AHLers Corey Locke and Darren Haydar as well as NHLers like Cody McCormick, Brandon Prust, Eric Nystrom, Krys Barch, and former Oilers high scoring rearguard prospect Dany Syvret.

It will be interesting to see what kind of roles the Oilers players will fill as Gagner is the cream of the crop of forwards, then you have Schremp and Pouliot who will be fighting for prime ice against Locke, Haydar, and Kadri. This time around it should be much more competitive for ice time as the caliber of players below the Oilers three forwards last year was less than stellar. Perhaps even a kick to the junk for a guy like Schremp seeing just how good lifetime AHLers Locke and Haydar are first hand.

Hopefully this preseason "tune-up" can get the Oilers players on the right path heading into camp and also get some chemistry between the three that otherwise might not happen under normal circumstances.

Here's the Knights Schedule:
