Seguin and the Whalers Dig Themselves a VERY Deep Hole

Tyler Seguin went pointless for the 3rd straight game (a 5-0 humbling at the hands of the Windsor Spitfires) and no surprise as a result of it his team has yet to come out on top in any of those 3 games. Taylor Hall is on the verger of sending Plymouth packing and sending Seguin to the back of the line for the 1st overall pick. Barring at least one near legendary game by Seguin in which he carries the Whalers on his back to avoid the sweep, the damage has already been done.

That said it is all about projecting a player going forward. One thing that can't be projected is heart and leadership. You might be able to learn to be a leader I suppose, but most leaders are just born to lead. Right now Seguin has a world of pressure on him and has to face a powerhouse of a team every time that he steps onto the ice. That said great players still find a way to get the job done and Seguin just hasn't to this point.

The best that I can do to paint a fair picture between Hall and Seguin is to compare Hall's performance against the US team at the WJC's. Hall felt the need to put the team on his back and as a result he was trying "too hard". While he got 3 points in that game he could've been better. That said he kept forcing the action, Seguin hasn't done that. He did it in game 2 to a point, but Hall's mentality is to be like that all the time. That said team US and team Canada are closer in talent than Windsor and Plymouth, but Hall was definitely out of his element against the Americans but he still produced no matter how ugly, he put points on the board.

We won't get to see Hall as over matched against a team as Seguin has been against Windsor, so that IMO is the best comparison at this point. How these guys pan out in 2-3 years is any ones guess, but as of right now Hall's never say die attitude is looking better and better by the minute.
