BBO's Top 20 Oilers Prospects, #18 D Bryan Young

A stay at home, meat and potatoes kind of defender, Bryan Young is a tough farm boy that leaves it all on the ice. Outside of Theo Peckham, Young could be the best hitting defense prospect that this team has. Unlike Peckham, Young isn't much of a fighter, but he doesn't shy away from the rough stuff either.

Another player at the end of his entry level contract, Young could conceivably be gone next season as well. At this point in his career, Young appears to be an AHL defenseman with the ability to be a #7 NHL defenseman or an emergency fill in as a #6 d-man.

Unfortunately for Young, he could be the victim of the numbers game. Peckham, Chorney, Wild, Plante, Bisaillon, and Petry are all seen as superior prospects. Unless Young really impresses when he returns from injury, expect him to be in another AHL city next season.
