Hana Hou #88!

Hana Hou is Hawaiian for "do it again", or "encore". Rob Schremp certainly opened up some eyes with his play less than 2 days ago, but if he really wants to grab a hold of a roster spot like a Pit Bull grabs its victim, he will need to show more of what he did against Dallas.

Facing friend and former Mississauga and US WJC's teammate Patrick O'Sullivan and the LA Kings could be the defining moment in Schremp's young NHL career to this point. Often times a player plays well in their first NHL game or right after a call-up, however when you can string together a number of good games in a row, it looks more like a pattern than an anomaly.

Here's to hoping that Schremp can do just that and he continues to ignite this teams offensive spark. He definitely got himself some slack from a superb 1st game this season, hopefully he can lengthen that slack to Petersen or Gagner-esque proportions!

Looks like both of us were correct in our evaluation of Schremp.

LOL

The irony of course, that MacTavish doesn't get fired.

I just want to say that Schremp wouldn't be the player he is today if it weren't for the Oilers. I think many other teams would have rushed him and lets face it he had some major issues when he was first drafted. I think he has matured and has been humbeled a bit and his off the puck play has improved dramatically I think that the Oilers can take credit for that. If they didn't think he was going to be player they would have traded him ages ago but they didn't want to give up on him. Of course Schremp himself is also somewhat responsible for his turn around because he could have given up, asked for a trade or thrown a hissy fit. He didn't and stayed professional. Some players wouldn't have handled it the same way, I'm looking at you Patrick Thoreson.

Jeff-He has been helped by he Oilers drive to make him a better defensive player, but do you honestly think that he would've been fine with being manhandled at the NHL level and not being the player that he wants to be? Who is to say that he wouldn't have been farther ahead if he came in as a 19 or 20 year old? Working with the team day in and day out?

My biggest bitch was that he was never given a fair shot, MacT said as much before TC this year.

I don't care to get into it, as it is the past. Let's see how MacT handles him from here on in. That is all that matters at the moment IMO.

MacT is a sloooooowwwwwwww learner Hunter, at least he has caught on. Schremp knew the way to his heart by stealing some pucks and getting into the corners. Good on him, then he displayed why people like you and I like him with a beauty feed to Pouliot and a hell of a shot on Turco.

I don't know if he would have been fine with it but I've seen my fair share of skilled junior players make it to the NHL and then fizzled away because they couldn't handle the NHL game. I didn't want that to happen to Schremp. Having said that he has been a victim of bad situations and bad luck. For example last year with the Knee injury and the great camps by Cogs, Gagner, and Brodziak. This year was the 3 goalie situation and the need for an enforcer. As for the 2 years before that I honestly think he wasn't read then.

I hardly think anything's proven yet, but the kid had a heck of a game yesterday. Good for him.

Schremp isn't made the same way as those uber talented kids we all played for and against as kids and who some of us thought we were.

He's a bonafide star player, American, who brings a new dimension to the league. A poor white trash kid with insane skills. Kind of like that poor dude with all the talent who died badly in Quebec. Except Schremp's potential for alcoholism probably won't get the better of him during his playing career.
