We Need to Re-Sign the Kotalik Kannon!

Despite our craptacular play of late, Ales Kotalik has been a bright spot, one of very few to be frank. The chemistry between Kotalik and Hemsky was slow in coming, but it is evident now. Kotalik has a bomb of a shot that is only surpassed by Souray's war head of a blast. On top of that, he has size, knows how to use it (while he's not a guy that destroys opposing players withmonstrous hits, he is effective with his size), and he is a shoot first player that just so happens to share the same first name and same country of birth as our highlight film on skates AlesHemsky.

He is nearing 20 goals, and while he may only be a 20ish goalscorer over his career, I don't think that it's out of the question for him to be a 30 goalscorer if his chemistry continues withHemsky and they get the benefit of playing a full season together. Detroit has its Swedes, Washington has its Russians, why not make Edmonton Czech Central?

If we can keep him for somewhere between $2.5 and $3 million, we'd be doing well for ourselves. Then in turn dump Pisani or Moreau to trim some of the salary fat on the club. If we can sign him and he can be the answer to the long asked question of who will Hemsky gel with? This is a deadline trade that we won and it could improve the team for many years to come.

We'll let him walk, Reddox needs an extension. We'll sign him to 5 years at $15 million in fear that Burke would send him a HUGE Penner-esque offer sheet.
